Biography
Ragheb El-Sergany is an Egyptian doctor, researcher and Islamic preacher born in 1964 in the Western Province of Egypt. He started his studies at the Faculty of Medicine at Cairo University and completed his Bachelor’s degree in 1988. He then earned a Master’s degree and a Doctorate degree in Medicine from the same university in 1992 and 1998 respectively.
Meanwhile, he studied the history of Islam and founded a website called “Kissat al Islam” (Islam’s story). He also finished learning the Quran at the beginning of the 1990’s. His academic interest in Islam’s history provided him the opportunity to publish lectures on the history of Islam on his social media. El Sergani wrote more than fifty books on the same field. Thanks to his books and lectures he became famous and won several Islamic awards.
Ragheb is a member of various national and international committees and associations. He currently works as an Assistant Professor at the Medicine Faculty, in Cairo University. He is also a Chairman in the Administrative Council of the Civilisation Center for Historical Studies in Cairo, and member of the Egyptian-American Urology association, the World Muslim Scholars Federation, and the Rights and Reform Legitimate Committee.
He is also a member of the Legal Commission for Rights and Reform - an Islamist organisation founded in 2011 to spread political Islam and consolidate Islamists’ dominance in the post-uprising political landscape in Egypt. Unsurprisingly, Ragheb supported the Muslim Brotherhood’s candidate, Mohammed Morsi - who later became President. In one of his meetings to support Morsi during 2012 elections, Ragheb stated that “all Muslims should rally behind Morsi to implement the Islamist project.”

Evidence of Hate Speech/Incitement:
January 2021: Ragheb has a number of videos on Youtube explaining the history of Islam and some other religious and historical events. In one of his videos on the relationship between European countries and Jews, he said that Jews’ manners of being unjust and corrupt have never changed throughout history.
May 2013: In a video on Youtube entitled “the art of dealing with Jews”, Ragheb stated that Jews never changed, their behaviour (negative) remained the same before Islam, after Islam and even today. He also added that the conflict between Muslims and Jews will last until the end of times.
